About LOC

What We Believe : The Scriptures

We believe the Bible (The Holy Scriptures) is the Word of God and was written by Holy men (2ndPeter 1:21). We believe it is supernaturally inspired. Jesus is the central theme of the scriptures (St. John 5:39; Galatians 3:24; Hebrews 10:7). Therefore the Word of God is inerrant, inexhaustible, infallible in the original writings (manuscripts) and persevered by God in its verbal, plenary inspiration (Psalms 119:140, 151, 160; Proverbs 30:5-6; St. John 17:17). It will abide (remain) forever (Matthew 24:35); and that it is divinely authoritative in standard for perfect instruction for every age and every life (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

What We Believe : The True God

We believe There is only one true God (Deut. 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; 44:6, 8; 45: 5-6). God is Holy (Lev. 11:44, 19:2; I Samuel 2:2). God is the absolute and sole creator of the universe and that creation was by divine command (Genesis 1:1; Colossians 1:16; Ephesians 3:9; Isaiah 40:25-28; 42:5; 45:7, 11-12, 18). God is eternal (Psalms 90:2). God is worthy of all honor, confidence and love (Rev. 4:11; 5:12-13). We believe that the Godhead exists eternally in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and these three are one God (St. John 14:26; 15:26; Genesis 1:26; Deut 6:4; 1st John 5:7; Hebrews 1:8-9; Acts 5:3-4). God the Father and God the Son are one (St. John 10:30; 17:11, 21-22). Only God is eternal (Psalms 90:2).

What We Believe: Jesus Is The Way

We believe that Jesus Christ (The Anointed One) is the Son of God (Matthew 16:13-18; 26:62-64). Jesus is the only begotten Son of God (St. John 1:17-18; Matthew 3:16-17; 17:5). We believe that Jesus Christ in the flesh was both God and man. He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life (Matthew 1:19-25; Hebrews 4:15). God, by His sovereign and divine decision out of the love for men, sent Jesus Christ into the world to save sinners from their sins (Matthew 1:21; St. John 3:17). Christians are saved by grace, through faith alone and not of ourselves that we cannot boast in our good works. Salvation is a result of the mediation of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 5:5-6; 10:10-14; 1st Timothy 2:5). Therefore, we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, in which it is God’s will that we walk in them (Ephesians 3:18-20). Eternal Salvation is through Jesus Christ, who allows Christians to have forgiveness of sins, with its impartation of a new nature, and its hope of eternal life is entirely apart from good works, baptism, church membership or man’s effort and is of pure grace. Jesus was crucified, died as a penalty for our sins, and was raised from the dead bodily on the third day. Therefore, we believe in the physical death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that the power of the Gospel of Salvation is in His (Jesus) resurrection (Romans 10:9, 10). (1st Corinthians 15:1-4, 20; Matthew 12:40). We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ made a perfect atonement for sin, through His sacrificial death and shed blood, and has redeemed us and cleansed us from sin and the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. Men are saved and justified on the simple and single ground of His shed blood (Hebrews 9:11-12, 14-15; 1st John 1:7).

What We Believe: The Fall of Man

We believe that man was created in holiness (Genesis 1:27, 31). Man voluntarily fell by sinning (1stTimothy 2:14); Because of one man’s (Adam) sin, death was pronounced upon all mankind (Romans 5:12). Because of one Man’s (Jesus), obedience, many shall be made righteous in salvation (Romans 5:19; Heb 5:8-9). All have sinned and has fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Therefore, there is no one righteous without sin (Romans 3:10); All men are inclined to evil (Genesis 6:5; Jeremiah 17:9). The wages or payment of sin is death (eternal damnation) but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).

What We Believe: The Call of God

We believe that it is God’s will that all men should be saved (Titus 2:11; 1st Tim 2:3-4). All who receive Christ become joint heirs with Him and at death, their spirits, and souls depart to be with Christ in conscious blessedness (Romans 8:14-17). It should be the goal of every Christian to become a disciple of Christ by growing toward spiritual maturity through the knowledge of and obedience to the Word of God and submission to the Holy Spirit, who indwells, baptizes and seals all believers at the moment of salvation (Luke 9:23; Ephesians 1:4-6; Romans 5:8-10; Heb 7:25; St. John 6:39). We believe that is God’s will that all Christians would love one another and love their enemies (Matthew 5:43-45; 22:39-40; St. John 13:34-35; 1st John 4:7-8, 11, 20-21); We believe that every true Christian has been called by God to be a dynamic part of a local church since this God’s primary context for spiritual development and community impact (Matthew 5:16; Ephesians 4:11-14; 1st Corinthians 6:18-20).
